After several years of teaching private music lessons, she returned to school to earn a nursing degree from the University of Maryland. As a registered nurse, Elizabeth spent time working in telemetry, neonatal intensive care, and home health nursing before returning to graduate school. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree as part of the Family Nurse Practitioner program at George Mason University with a focus on evidence-based, holistic care across the lifespan. While in graduate school, Elizabeth served as a research assistant for multiple grants with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and continued her work with older adults in the home health field.
